TRACY COFTY BLANTON
EdD. Pensacola Christian College
Senior Teacher
After teaching for several years on the high school, junior high, and elementary level, Tracy returned to college to seek more training in elementary curriculum. During the process she became aware of the many children that struggle with reading skills, especially among minorities. Her goal is to help children gain confidence and develop the ability to read well. Additionally, Tracy teaches in a weekly Bible club that encourages children to understand God's great love and plan for them personally.
LENORA "NANNY" COFTY
Assistant Teacher
"Nanny" has been involved in teaching children for over fifty years. Her love, patience, and sweet spirit encourages each child to do his or her best. She also assists in a weekly Bible club, encouraging not only students but also parents as they seek to raise their children in the best way. She encouraged and supported her husband, Evangelist Chuck Cofty, as he preached the Gospel across the country. Nanny is an incredible asset with the ability to greatly influence and support children as they strive to take steps forward in not only reading but also in life skills.
KATHERINE BLANTON
Assistant Teacher
Loved by students and staff alike, Kate has a wonderful ability to assess and connect with each child. Her extensive knowledge of children's books and authors enables her to be a value source for reading material. Her work in early childhood development enables her to decipher some of the foundational steps missing in reading acquisition.
SARAH SHULTZ
Assistant Teacher
Sarah grew in a large family, helping to educate younger siblings. With an educational background in child development, brain development, and child psychology, Sarah is well equipped to deal with the individual needs of children. In addition to working in various ministries, including schools and educational/church programs, Sarah's great love of reading and books is contagious. She has the ability to help children want to learn to read.
PHYLLIS STEVENSON
Reading/Bible Support Staff
Mrs. Stevenson is the wife of Pastor Glenn Stevenson, Pastor of Devonshire Baptist Church. She has worked in Christian education for over 16 years, teaching Health, English, and Bible. Additionally, Phyllis is a registered nurse and worked in the ICU before teaching in a multi-handicapped classroom in the public school. Her extensive and varied background makes her an excellent resource support staff member.
